Yukon Association of Naturopathic Doctors
YAND is a non-profit professional association. Our members are naturopathic doctors who have a minimum of 7 years of post-secondary education and have graduated from an accredited naturopathic school.
The YAND is the professional association for naturopathic doctors in the Yukon. We act on behalf of the naturopathic profession and uphold its services, values, and principles. We promote the educational, professional, economic, and scientific well-being of our members. In turn, we strive to improve the welfare of all Yukon residents through education about the profession; YAND member professional development; negotiating with government to obtain naturopathic regulation; and advocacy to preserve the health of Yukon residents and their environment.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a distinct form of health care blending modern science with traditionally used medicines. It is the art and science of disease prevention and health promotion through the use of natural therapies such as herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture), and lifestyle counseling.
As Naturopathic practitioners, we follow the principles of naturopathic medicine:
1. First, to do no harm
2. To co-operate with the healing power of nature
3. To address the fundamental causes of disease
4. To heal the whole person through individualized treatment
5. To teach the principles of healthy living and preventive medicine
